German Sheet Cakes & Desserts Baking Class
Monday, April 13, 2026 - Starts at 5:00 pm
12 people maximum capacity.
We’ll gather in the ZLAC clubhouse kitchen for a baking class with professional pastry artist (and ZLAC rower) Eva Himmelberg. Light dinner served at 5:00 so you don’t have to bake while hangry!
Class begins as soon as everyone has arrived, STARTING NO LATER THAN 5:30. We plan to have a short break, with the class ending at about 8:00 pm.
Important Details:
We will bake two very traditional sheet cakes called Bienenstich and Cherry Crumple. We will cook vanilla pudding from scratch and use it for the filling of the Bienenstich. We will also use the pudding to create easy and delightful desserts.
If you have a stand and/or hand mixer, please bring it (and let us know beforehand). Same for a digital kitchen scale.
Bring an apron if you like to wear one. Wear a short-sleeved top or one whose sleeves you can roll up.
Bring three containers to take home pieces of two different cakes and one dessert.
Please remove all jewelry on hands and arms (for purposes of hygiene). If you wear nail polish or artificial nails, you will need to wear gloves during the class. Gloves will be provided.
Allergens: We will use hazelnuts, almonds, eggs, butter, cream, milk, and flour.

Please note: Event ticket sales are non-refundable. If you must cancel after purchasing your ticket, you may give or sell it to someone you know. If not, immediately contact Eva at eva@himmelberg.com. These classes are popular, so it’s likely Eva will know of someone who’d like to purchase your ticket.
