Learn-to-Row Course for Women (18+)
July 10-19, 2026
We’re sorry! This class is now full. If you have already filled out our Rowing Interest form, then you are on our notification list for future classes. We will also notify you if someone cancels participation in this class. If you haven’t filled out that form, you may do so here.
An introduction to the fundamentals of sweep rowing (each person controls just one oar), as well as safe boat handling. For adult women. Check zlac.org/learn-to-row-masters for more information about our rowing program.
Below are the class session dates.
Important: Please plan to attend all sessions. We need all five students present at each session, because: a) we need enough people to safely carry the boat to and from the waterside; and b) you will miss a LOT of vital information if you miss a session.
Friday, July 10 (6:00 - 7:45 pm)
Saturday, July 11 (8:30 - 11:00 am)
Sunday, July 12 (7:30 - 10:00 am)
Saturday, July 18 (8:30 - 11:00 am)
Sunday, July 19 (7:30 - 10:00 am)
Physical Requirements
Rowing is a physically demanding sport that requires strength, balance, and endurance. Participants must lift, carry, and position rowing equipment to and from the water in coordination with others, and must be capable of safely lifting approximately 40 lbs (18 kg) individually overhead without assistance. Individuals unable to meet this physical requirement should not participate.
To help you visualize the lifting requirement, below are examples of items we may carry in everyday life. The 5 gallon bucket of water is roughly comparable to the weight you must be able to lift overhead during a rowing session.
1.5 liter box wine = 4 to 5 lbs
1 gallon (128 oz) laundry detergent = 10 lbs
Large bag of cat litter = 20 lbs
5 gallon bucket of water = 42 lbs
Refund Policy: If ZLAC cancels the Learn to Row class, your registration fee will be refunded. You have until one week before the first class meeting to cancel and receive a full refund of the registration fee minus a $25 cancellation fee. The cancellation fee from one week before the first class meeting until the day of the first session is $100. Cancellation on or after the class begins will result in forfeit of the registration fee. Exception: If we are able to find another participant from the wait list and the class has not yet started, the cancellation fee will be reduced to $25.
